"Local Link" ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application.
User Earning & Withdrawal Policy
Local Link offers an incentive program for active community members. By using our platform, you agree to the following financial terms:
- Registration Bonus: New users will receive a one-time sign-up bonus of 50 BDT upon successful account creation and verification.
- Post Earning: Users will earn 2 BDT for every authentic and approved post or service listing.
- Withdrawal Threshold: To request a payout, a user must have a minimum accumulated balance of 500 BDT in their wallet.
- Dormant Account & Funds Transfer:
- If an account remains inactive (no login or activity) for a continuous period of 5 years, it will be deemed "Abandoned."
- In case of account abandonment or permanent deletion, any unclaimed balance will be forfeited and automatically transferred to the Platform Administration for system maintenance.
- Once forfeited, the user waives all legal rights to claim these funds in the future.
Information We Collect
We collect specific types of information to provide seamless chat, calling, and community services. Below is a detailed explanation of the permissions we request and why:
- Personal Information & Account Credentials:
- Mandatory for Registration: Your Phone Number, Password, and a 4-digit PIN (used for password recovery).
- Optional: Your name, profile picture, address, and Email Address (which you can optionally add via profile editing).
- Chat & Calling Permissions (Why we need them):
- Microphone Access: We require access to your microphone to enable Real-Time Audio/Video Calling and to allow you to send Voice Messages in the chat. Audio is processed in real-time through our secure servers and is not permanently stored unless sent as a recorded voice message.
- Camera Access: We request camera access to allow you to make Video Calls and to capture/send Photos directly within the chat or for your profile picture. Video call streams are processed in real-time and are not recorded.
- Background Service (Foreground Service): To ensure your call is not disconnected when you minimize the app or lock your screen, we utilize a foreground service. This permission ensures your audio/video connection remains active in the background during an ongoing call.
- Storage / Gallery Access: To facilitate file sharing, we need permission to access your device's storage. This allows you to upload, send, and save Photos, Videos, Audio files, and Documents in chats.
- Contact List: With your explicit permission, we access your phone's contact list to help you easily find and connect with friends and family who are already using Local Link. We do not permanently store your contact list on our servers.
- User-Generated Content: All information you submit, including posts, service listings (doctors, shops, etc.), images, names, addresses, and public contact information.
- Location Information: With your explicit permission, we access your device's GPS location to provide location-specific services, share location in chat, and find nearby users or shops.
- Earning Records: Data related to your posts, earnings calculation, and withdrawal requests are stored to manage your in-app financial activity.
How We Use Your Information
- To facilitate your use of local services and make your provided information publicly accessible within the app.
- To enable secure communication (e.g., chat, audio calls, video calls) between users and listed service providers using our own infrastructure.
- For Authentication: We use your Phone Number for unique identification, and your 4-digit PIN for secure password resets.
- To manage your in-app earnings, process withdrawal requests, and maintain reward records.
- To ensure the security, maintenance, and improvement of the app and user experience.
Sharing Your Information & Secure Infrastructure
Local Link is a community platform. The content (posts, service listings) you voluntarily add is publicly visible to all app users. We do not sell your personal registration information to third parties.
Secure Audio/Video Calling (Self-Hosted):
We prioritize your privacy. Unlike other apps that use third-party SDKs, our audio and video calling features are powered entirely by our own secure, private servers (VPS).
- No Third-Party Access: Your calls are processed directly through our secure infrastructure. No external companies listen to or handle your call data.
- Real-Time Processing: Audio and video streams are processed in real-time solely to establish the connection between you and the recipient.
- No Call Recording: We do not record or store your live audio/video calls on our servers.
- End-to-End Security: All communication traffic is encrypted during transmission to ensure maximum security.
Data Deletion Policy (Right to Erasure)
Users have the absolute right to delete their account and all associated data from Local Link at any time.
How to Request Account and Data Deletion (Recommended Method):
You can initiate the permanent deletion process immediately from within the app:
- Go to the "Settings" menu in the Local Link app.
- Navigate to the "Account" section and select the "Delete Account" option.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the deletion.
Alternative Method: If you are unable to access the app, you may send a request to support@locallinkbd.com from your registered email or phone number.
Types of Data Deleted and Retention Period
Upon successful initiation of the deletion process, your account and all associated data (PII, content, images, chat history) will be permanently removed immediately.
Financial Note: Upon account deletion, any balance below the 500 BDT threshold will be permanently lost and non-claimable.
Data Retention (Exceptions)
- Legal Compliance: Transactional data related to successful withdrawals may be retained for a maximum of 6 years for legal audit purposes, as required by law.
